The decorative thermoset HPLs are chemically inert. They emit very little formaldehyde (< 0.1 mg/m2.h), which is well below the legal limit of the European E1 emission class (3.5 mg/m2.h), and also meet the requirements of Class A for VOC emissions.
In addition, due to their very low permeability, laminates glued onto wood substrates act as an effective barrier against possible formaldehyde emissions from the substrates. Decorative substrates do not pose any migration risks that could affect foodstuffs. Their surfaces are food safe.
Finally, HPL non-porous surfaces are easy to disinfect with hot water, steam, or any types of disinfectants used in hospitals and other commercial establishments.
